Based on our experience with the BBQ/potatoes dinner, the problem was
the food itself. :-) Our crew was happy with all the other food (minus
the usual minor nitpicks about this-and-that), but this single meal was
a universal thumbs-down.
I think the problem with the meal was due to the texture. With meals
based on pasta or rice, there's a sturdy "base" to build upon. But
rehydrated potatoes just don't cut it as the center of a meal. Perhaps
once food technology allows freeze-drying beef in larger chunks, this
type of meal would work.
