First let me thank Pete for his endorsement of the Philmont Advisor's Guide.
Wally and I started it after we took our first treks to Philmont as advisors
and said "I wish I had known that". Since then, the Guide has grown to 78
pages of single space text. While not intended to replace the material sent
to you by Philmont, the Guide seeks to fill in between the lines. The
material is obtained as a result of our experiences at Philmont as well as
some other experienced advisors and Rangers. The Guide was recently updated
to include Philmont's new bear protocols and recommendations concerning
existing medical pre-conditions. It is available for a $10 donation to
Venturing Crew 1519 and serves as the crew's primary fundraiser. Please
e-mail me directly if you would like a copy.
