[Philmont]: Tarp Tent Question

I am always tempted to try and eliminate weight from my pack as is most
serious backpackers. I always keep an eye out for lighter equipment or
better ideas.

I just received my usual email from Sierra Trading Post and saw a tent/tarp
hybrid that looks tempting called a 2-PERSON BAT RAY SHELTER which weighs 3
lb. 10 oz. See

I'm concerned as to how effective such a hybrid would be, I live in an area
of the country where the bugs take over your campsite when the sun goes down
and you better have a good enclosure. The few times we used a tarp of fly I
was eaten alive, this hybrid looks like it just might work.

Does anyone have one of these and if so how well does it work. I know the
Mountain Hardware name as I have a pair of their hiking shorts which I love.
I would appreciate any feedback on this item.
