My understanding of this tarp/tent hybrid is that while there is mesh
side wall & door protection going to the ground, it is not an enclosed
system. It is open on the ground and therefore can not keep creepy
crawlies out of your tent. Knowing mosquitos seems to find even the
tiniest hole if one exists, I would think that they too would find their
way around the bottom of the mesh. Beyond the physical comfort level,
psychological comfort for me is greatly increased when I have a unit
with a floor that will zip closed against the creepy crawlies, and
depending in what part of the ranch you hike, there are some dense
populations of creepy crawlies (rattlesnakes).
