Don't overlook the tents provided by Philmont. I'm a
confessed gearhead and own far too many tents. On the
advice of several people, we left our tents at home
and used Philmont's last summer. We were all
pleasantly surprized. The tents are relatively light
(~5 lbs)2 man tents and luxuriously roomy. They kept
us dry. Nobody was eaten by bears or bit by snakes in
their sleep. We all slept well.
