We also, like everyone else, worked to lower our weights. But we still
had larger and smaller scouts, stronger and weaker ones. We focused on
this as a TEAM effort. We could not expect the smaller scouts to carry
their stuff and their share of the crew gear. That would put them at
too high of a weight ratio, and make the trip worse for all. We had two
small scouts 90-100 lbs.
So, EVERYTHING is 'crew gear'. If gear was not weeded out before
Philmont, then it is going to be carried for the entire trek.
