Boy, there is no one answer to that. Boots, backpacks etc come in all shapes and sizes and different manufacturers products fit certain bodies better than others. It has to be a personal decision for each crew member based on comfort and price. The most important thing is to get all of the items on your list and break all of it in before you go by training. Boots are critical to get properly fitted and broken in.

You will find opinions on this list that vary from top of the line gear to just use what you already have because it is "good enough". Should be fun though.

  Our troop has a trek in August 03 and all of the boys and adults will be going on their first trek. My question is what would be the recommended gear that you would definitely take on your next trek. Specifically which boots, backpacks, sleeping bags have proven to work best. I have the tents down after the discussions on it over the past few days.
