RE: [Philmont]: Camera -- best way to carry

I usually carry a Nikon f3 and 2 lenses and I used the top cover pocket of
my Mountainsmith. I could get at it by myself or with the help of a
crewmember. Because it was at the top, it was protected when I took my pack
off for a pack line. In 2001 after the bear attacks the Rangers (ours
especially) were insistent that ALL cameras go up in the bear bags, not only
disposables and raw film supplies. I couldn't bring myself to do that so I
packed it in my boot with a sock on top along with my asthma medicine.

I don't know if that is still the policy.
