I got off the Canoe list about a year ago. However, I just got a call from a friend going to Aiotikan(sp). He needs some help choosing a route(north or south) Any takers out there?

Subject: [Philmont]: Re: Camera Gear

My solution was to cary two cameras. I used my Olympus P/S en-route to camps and got out the Canon once I was in camp. The problem I found w/ using the SLR on the trail was that it got fogged if I kept it too close to my body. I guess I generated a lot of heat :-) The Olympus in a shoulder pouch did not have the same problem.

A lot of my photography was done more in camp when I could focus on good composition and take my time. On the trail usualy all I got were snapshots.

You can see A LOT (close to 1000) images from several of our last trips at http://wemc.net

I shoot on C41 or E6 film and have the images burnt to CD during processing time by Dale Labs in Florida. They do an awsome job and a $9 per roll of 36ex it's quite afordable. Then I can proof the images and have prints made from just the good ones. Crew members can the buy prints from my website and I never have to mess w/ negatives. Digital and Film, best of both...
