I found a little utility pouch or something similarly named at Sunny's
Outdoor Store. It was $3.99 and slides onto the hip belt with some
re-threading. It measures 5"x7"x2" and has a small pocket on the outside
that would hold something the size of a baseball card. I used it with a
Canon Sure Shot 155 and had plenty of extra room - maybe enough for your
SLR - I kept my Chapstick in there too. The pouch is not waterproof so I
put my camera in a Zip-Loc bag. It was very accessible.

Subject: [Philmont]: Camera -- best way to carry

The camera I'm planning to take on the trail next year is a Nikon N65 SLR.
I thought long and hard about what camera to take before buying this one,
and the purpose of my question is not to re-open the debate on
digital/disposable/SLR/point-and-shoot etc. What I'd really like some
advice on is the best way to carry it. It weighs 13 ounces which is light
for an SLR, but it is a bit bulky. I'd like it to be readily accessible,
but protected as well. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
