Re: [Philmont]: Camera -- best way to carry

In 1991 and 1998, I carried my Olympus OM-PC SLR and an Olympus 35-70 mm zoom
lens. Used a LowePro bag made to carry a body and attached zoom lens (200 mm
range). Bag is triangular in shape, and has belt loops attached to the back.
I rigged 2-inch webbing through the belt loops and attached spring clips in
such a way that the bag was held by the 'D' rings on both of my pack's
shoulder straps at chest-level. Bag was lined with a 1-gallon ZipLock bag.
Camera was always ready, always protected from the rain, and the bag provided
a great hand rest!

To prevent fogging from temperature differences or humidity, put a silica
pack or two at the bottom of the ziplock bag. A little bulky, and added a
step to getting my pack on and off, but the bag worked.
