I bought a set of poles from REI, they are called haute route, or something
like that. They have nice handles, and the shock can be turned on or off. I
like them, esp on downhill sections. They are aslo nice on steep, loose
uphill sections of trail. When I don't need them, I either offer them to one
of my scouts to try out, or stuff them in my backpack. I tried several pairs
from other people before breaking down and buying mine.
