I don't use a staff or poles, but my wife really likes her poles. I used a
bladder and a couple of Nalgenes at Philmont this year. It is nice being
able to drink without fumbling for a bottle and putting it back. When the
bladder was running low I refilled it during a break from the bottles. Be
careful if the scouts use bladders to ensure they are drinking enough (easy
to see in a bottle but tougher when the bladder is inside a sleeve or the
pack).

Do trekking poles work better than a walking staff? Has everyone switched
to camelback type hydration packs or are Nalgene bottles still the best for
water?
