"During the summer of 2002, 28 participants (21 Advisors and 7 youth
participants) were not allowed on the trail because they did not meet the
height / weight requirements. THESE PARTICIPANTS WERE SENT HOME!"

You had better believe they are strict on enforcing that stuff. I know the
guy from last year who was in charge of rechecks and he has no mercy on
that. Hopefully he is coming back again this summer. There is no excuse for
someone not to have made the weight requirements. They have lots of time to
know what weight they have to be at. Football players are an exception.
I've seen some of them get through, but their weight is muscle they are very
fit. I believe more people would understand this if they had the opportunity
to carry someone out of the woods.

"Incidentally there is also a used equipment flyer in this packet."

There are actually some good deals with that. I would rather buy the stuff
at Philmont instead of through the mail. Some of it is in good shape and
some of it is not. Being able to inspect it would be a plus, but I'm sure
that Nick sends out the best stuff first when people order.
I bought one of the old green Philtents for $20. In great shape. I just use
one pole and the rain fly for a one man tent, when I was off of Philmont
property of course.
