[Philmont]: Some good advice, IMHO.

Some good advice I received from a caving email group I belong to.

This was discussed a while back and I would like to reiterate to all
of the adult advisors attending next summer: If Mark Anderson or any Ranger
tells you to NOT do something, follow their advice. Especially, Point #4
below:

A recent issue of Backpacker magazine lists four "Deadly Mistakes of the
Lost (Don't Try These Tricks Away From Home)":

1. Heading down an unknown trail, despite the fact that you don't know
which way to go.

2. Traveling off-trail ... figuring you'll get un-lost eventually.

3. Walking downhill and/or downstream, even though you don't know where the
stream or hill is headed.

4. Hiking in the dark..
