I found that all the camps we were in were great in their own right.
Perhaps the view was great in one, the staff was great in one, the sites
were great in another. Last summer our crew was disappointed in the
re-routing of the trek due to the fires. We spent a large part of the trek
in the south country when we previously selected the trek into Valle Vidal,
(similar to a previous trek some of the older guys took four years
previously). However, as it turns out, our trek into the south was great.
I can only echo what everyone else has said: there are no bad treks. There
are no bad camps. The relative success of a trek is not a Philmont issue,
it is an advisor¹s, crew leaders and crew members¹ issue. Good luck and
happy holidays to all on the list.
