I have always been a roll and fold guy. I have only noticed a few stuff
types on the trail and previously it did not make much sense to me.
This thread has me rethinking my method. Not having to fold and roll to
get on the trail has some appeal.
Stuffing a sleeping bag is different as it has lots of air that easily
compresses out. A tent is more difficult to get trapped air out of -
especially when wet. How does the stuff method work when the tent is
wet? Yes, I know you never store a wet tent, but sometimes you have to
pack a wet tent when you leave camp in the morning and pull it out to
dry later in the day.
>From packing clothes while traveling I have learned that neatly folded
clothes take less space than clothes just stuffed in a suitcase. Is
this not the same for a tent?
Which method is quicker? It would seem to me that stuffing would be
quicker on the take down, but a neatly rolled tent would be a little
quicker to put up.
What method does Santa use when packing his bag? An important question
tonight.
Merry Christmas to all and wishing you many happy miles on the trail
next year,
Phil Brown
