MessageNo ,this is a typical pack weight. You can save two pounds of weight if you go Ultra light but remember you may be able to save two or more pounds of weight by going with a lighter sleeping bag , outerwear and clothing.

  I don't recall seeing a recommended pack weight empty. Would a 5,000 c.i. internal frame pack weighing 6 lbs. be too heavy?
