I have been to Philmont for 2 summer treks and 3 Autumn Adventures atook a Kelty Redcloud 5400. This was great -enough room for everything but not too big-- I weigh 175 and had it packed to between 37- 40 lbs based on food.
This is a great all around pack that will work well for most anyone

I don't recall seeing a recommended pack weight empty. Would a 5,000 c.i. internal frame pack weighing 6 lbs. be too heavy?

  Thanks
