I was very careful about what I packed this past summer, and my 5000 ci
pack was full (especially with food, crew gear and water). I wouldn’t
go much smaller than that. Philmont’s Guidebook to Adventure does
recommend a 4800 ci size for internal frame packs.

Pack size?

Perhaps I should be more specific. I was looking at several packs on
www.sportsmansguide.com. There's a smaller on at 4200 ci at
http://www.sportsmansguide.com/cb/cb.asp?a=104517 Anyone have comments,
both on this specific brand as well as on the style/size.weight/etc.?
Thanks.
BTW, We're taking our troop's first ever trip to Philmont in 2004
(801-O). This list has been a great source of valuable info. Thanks
everyone for contrihbuting. Your wisdom is appreciated.
