I use contracts because I have a Contingent. We do not have a
common understanding that comes with a Troop. I find it hard to
communicate to parents that Crew cohesion and identity is my most
important goal during work-ups. I can only do it if "Johnny Scout"
shows up for meetings and work-ups. Contract forces me to deliver a
vetted schedule to the family, and the family to commit to that
schedule. It also makes it easier to cut "Johnny" loose if he's
still not doing what he should.
Have never done it, but the hint works wonders.

PS: maybe even more so for "Sally Venturer."
