Besides a backpacking trek, there are several other ways for young people
to attend Philmont. Info on the provisional programs (Rayado, R.O.C.S.,
Ranch Hands and OA Trail Crew) is here:

Don't forget about Cavalcade. The 2005 crews will be allocated in
January of 2004 so you need to get your request in by January 1 if you want
to have a chance at a 2005 Cavalcade.

Then, there is Autumn Adventure (all adult crews are possible) and
Kanik, Philmont's winter camping program. Philmont maintains a
separate mailing list for these programs.
High school children of Philmont Training Center participants may
take part in the Mountain Men or Mountain Women programs.
Don't forget that Philmont hires about 900 seasonal staffers each
summer. Minimum age is 18.
In summary, there are numerous ways for young people and adults to get
to Scouting's Paradise!
