My son attended in 2002. He said it was a completely incredible training
situation and got more out of it than any other he's attended. He still
e-mails his patrol buddies and uses his notes when he staffs training
sessions for our troop and council. Since his time at NJLIC, he has served
as a Ranger on two WB courses in our council, is staffing council-level JLT
again next summer, has applied to staff NJLIC and work on Ranch Hands (we
did a Cavalcade this year), and even though he became an Eagle Scout in
March '03, he's staying with the troop (highly unusual for our troop) and
has run and been elected to be SPL for the spring semester this year. It
gave him a great perspective and sense of truly needing to give back. Get
your scout to go for it! He won't regret it and will have some terrific
experiences. John had two separate bear encounter stories that are still
fodder for the holiday dinner table!
