Subject: RE: [Philmont]: Lill
>> The show continued, and she was back to the Non-Philmont shirt.
CBS/Survivor must have reshot some scenes, after the fact.<<
I suspect she removed it from here pocket button during the day and only
wore it for tribal council.
>>She was one vote away from winning the 1 mil.<<
Maybe. "Johnny Fairplay," as he loved to call himself, is a "stupid like a
fox." The show of hands at the reunion said they would have voted 4-3 in
Lill's favor. But that's without Jon having a chance to answer the jury's
questions or make a case for himself. I suspect he would have easily swayed
one more vote to his side, especially if he explained his dead grandmother
ruse, and then Lill's worse fears would have been realized. My wife and I
watched it together and I told her Lill would pick Sandra. My wife said
that would be the worse choice because everyone hated Jon. I replied,
"She'll vote with her heart." And that's what she did and you cannot fault
someone for following their heart, especially when they know they are doing
the right thing. Besides, she did walk away with $100K, which is not too
bad either.
>>She explained her relationship to scouting and the show and it sounded
ok.<<
What appalled me was the sense from the other players that because of her
uniform that they expected her to live up to a standard that they did not
believe they should be held to. Amazing! The ideals of scouting are not
unique. They are represented by many other service organizations and
religions. To see someone state that they are not a scout so it's okay to
lie and deceive and be held to a different standard astounded me. I have
always viewed the scout uniform as a way to set an example, not to be the
foundation of an excuse to sin.
Anyway, kudos to Lill. I think she represented herself and the organization
well. Yes, she did deceive folks at times, but she seemed to draw the line
and restrict it to gamesmanship with regards to her vote and alliances. I
don't recall ever seeing her cross the line and do or say anything mean or
sinful.
