I saw your question regarding travel. I was an advisor in 2002 and am helping
plan our council contingent for 2004. As a result, I have been saving
comments from the board for the last 2 years.

I had GREAT service from Timberline and would not hesitate to use them again!

Below you'll find some of those comments along with our itinerary from 2002.

Paul Meola, 301-384-2371, used Perkins Auto rental (719-520-9655) ask for
Glen. Rented a 15 passenger van for the weekend in Colorado Springs. He had a
driver go to Philmont with us and return the van. They came out two weeks later
to pick us up and take use to the airport. Overall cost was about $600 for
rental and driver, about half the cost of bus service and a lot more
flexibility.

Blue Sky Adventures are run by Mike Pardue (Former Scoutmaster in FL) and can
help with your Philmont ground transportation and side trips. They offer
attractive, all-inclusive packages for accommodations, meals tours, whitewater
rafting, airport pickup and transportation. Call them at 877 225 8375 or visit
www.blueskyadventures.net.

City Concierge for pickup at the Denver Airport, and arranging 3 days of
activity - Air Force Academy, Garden of the Gods, Cave of the Winds, Seven Falls,
and White Water Rafting. Stu did an excellent job of exploring our likes and
needs, and matching them to available activities and time, coming up with a
great itinerary.

"The Shuttle" by Scout Connect. They are able to arrange the air and ground
travel.

company.

Leading The Way Tours is operated by Christine Emrick. Her ph # 866-696-5073,
fax 518-696-4927 and email leadingthewaytours@sbcglobal.net. E-mail for
Christine is: cemrick@sbcglobal.net She also has the ability to arrange air travel.

You can stay at the Koshares in La Junta. Canon City is 45 minutes SW of CO
Springs and in the heart of whitewater rafting and La Junta is about 2 hours
SE.

The Gym at The Holy Cross Abbey in Canon City many times. Accommodations are
gym floor, locker room showers, or if you plan to use your own tents at
Philmont there is lots of open sports fields. The facilities are run by the Canon
City Recreation Department and not the Abbey, cost last year was about $6.00
per person. The contact person for this is a Tawney McCall 719-275-1578 FAX
719-275-0960. Also we had breakfast in the Abbey Cafeteria for about $6.00 per
person, they serve a very nice breakfast at that price and it is only a short
walk across a ball field from the gym. Contact person is Paula Sheagley
719-275-8631.

While in the Canon City area check out the whitewater rafting on the Arkansas
River or visit the Royal Gorge bridge. Check out
