RE: [Philmont]: Opinions on Treking Poles #2

Last summer all but two of our crew of 12 carried poles. We also brought a ripstop nylon fly. We used two inverted treking poles to put it up and had the tightest, most storm-worthy fly I saw during our trek. I have also looped three poles together to make a tripod, so a whole group could be photographed together, or to make a slow exposure. You just don't run out of uses for those treking poles.
