Our troop has several Alps Mountaineering tents, backpacks, etc., and there
have been zero complaints. My tent, Mystique 2.0, has seen over 75 nights
of camping/backpacking over the past 18 months or so, including a Philmont
trek this past summer which my son and another crew member shared. We used
Alps Mountanineering backpacks on the trek as well (Night Hawk and Mt.
Hood). As Jim stated, they are not high-end products, but I have been more
pleased with the array of features, reliability, and durability than I have
been with the legacy Coleman gear and even some more expensive REI gear that
our troop has. Combine this with the price, and it's hard to go wrong.
My 2-cents...

I haven't looked at the specific tents on sale but the Northern Tier folks
use Alps Mountaineering tents for their 2 person tents (Taurus 2 AL I
think). We used them in 2003. I thought that they were excellent tents.

Out Troop has used a variety of Alps tents, backpacks, and sleeping bags.
Make no mistake, these are not high end products. They compare to Wenzel,
Coleman, etc. For the price, we have found them to be an excellent buy. The
quality is better than the other products at that price point. Overall we
have been very pleased with the products, YiS, Jim Welton McAllen, Texas
