I have a feeling I will regret this in the long run (agreeing with John),
but he is right on track about Smartwool expedition weight socks. I wore three
pair in 2001, and had no blisters. I do not use liners with them, as they are
lined with tiny loops of material. I ahve found them at campmor.com a few
times for much less than REI wants for them.

I even wear the smartwool socks with my steel toe leather boots at work.
