RE: [Philmont]: (OT): Current / Jacks Fork

Hi Brian;

Our troop has been to the Current River a few times. Although I haven't made
the trip, I don't have the impression that is very "high adventure." There
are people around here who talk about good trips to Arkansas and that may
the one that that Rice is talking about.

I have been to the Western North Carolina Region with the Troop and that
shouldn't be a bad trip from Louisville. We do the Nantahala and the Ocoee.
The AT runs through the area, and you could probably make a nice 5-7 day
trip (there may be limits on the size of contingents on the AT.)

Best regards

Brian, for my money and time, I prefer the Buffalo National River in North
Central Arkansas over those two rivers.

Well, the dreams of topping Mt Phillips or Crossing the Tooth was nice for
awhile....but back to the waiting list........

I know this is "Off-Topic" for Philmont, but does anyone have any experience
in 5-7 day canoe trip on the Current River or Jacks Fork in MO? My PLC
wants to do that as a Troop High Adventure Trip instead of NT or SeaBase.
