MessageA very good point, Mr. Brewer. As I understand things, which could be wrong, Scouting is not a religious organization in the sense that the Catholic Church is a religious organization. Boy Scouts says religious teaching is the province of the family, but that a member should recognize that there is something bigger than himself, that there is something that provides order in the Universe. There is a lot of leeway in the definition of "God" in the Scout Oath, and tremendous deference to the traditions of many groups. Why not add the word "my" as suggested?

Like most of us, I have been thinking about the relentless assault on the BSA of late. Last week, it hit me - the addition of ONE word to the Scout Oath *might* stop at least some of the attacks.

  Try this...

...........I will do my best to do my duty to MY God and my country........

Is that not what we really mean anyway? With the addition of that one word, the interpretation is up to the individual. In my opinion, if a person can make that oath, they meet the criteria.

Please, please please, let's not have a 3G debate. Let's keep comments on topic - the addition of one little word to the Oath.
