Hey, I didn't say it was perfect! Yes, these are issues - nothing is
perfect. I do think by adding MY, we clarify what is believed to be the
official stance - belief in a higher power as that is the litmus test
per BSA. To my knowledge, the only people who have been kicked out of
Scouting are Atheists.

Subject: Re: [Philmont]: BSA government problems
Sorry to drop a fly in the ointment, but well, there
are a few serious hassles regarding 'duty to MY God'.
What would be the decision on the youth or adult who:
viewed Lucifer As "My God" , or
viewed the Sun as "My God"
(There are folks who do subscribe to such beliefs, and
in both examples, it is in fact a belief in somepower
higher than oneself.)
And what of the youth or adult who beleives that man
is the topof the foodc hain, physically, mentally and spiritually, and
eachunto himself is a supreme guiding force who will do good, or evil,
as his choices direct? Will there be a whole new passle of litigation on
whether one belief in the power of one is functionally equal to a belief
in a higher power.
With respect, I don't see the addition of one word
making matters a whole lot clearer or acceptable to
those who aredispleased with the course BSA follows at
the present time.
Maybe that's just me.
