David Palmer asks ...
In our area, students do not finish school until mid to late June. Is it still possible to work at Philmont, even if you miss opening?
Comment...
Like any organization employing a thousand people, there are usually a couple of openings at any point in time due to personal situations, not being fully staffted to start, etc.
I know of one scout who was on staff at NJLIC in 2003, turned 18 while there, and rather than coming home got a backcountry job at Rich Cabins.
While obviously Philmont does not actively look for less than full season employees, there might be an opening. And the choices will be limited.
Like many other things, contact Philmont directly to find out exactly how they handle this.
