Re: [Philmont]: AMTRAK

We took the train from Chicago in 2002. The boys had a blast. I decided the seats weren't really designed for sleeping. The beauty of Amtrak is the flexability of the reservation. I led the contingent and was able to adjust the ticket reservation up to 30 days before. Also two adults couldn't handle the trail. They hiked back to base camp, changed their reservation and went home. Try to do that with an air line. For groups you get one free adult for X number of students. Plan on taking the train again in 2006.

May I get some information in train travel from St.
Louis, Mo. to Philmont area? I have looked at the
AMTRAK web site and saw the time tables...I would like
to hear from people who have done the trip or who have
traveled by train to Philmont. Maybe the on train
services[food,drinks,sleeping accommodations].
