Probably the best thing about this list is that you get a wide range of
opinions. We sometimes get more excited about one topic than another (that's
putting it nicely!!), but usually information is presented and you benefit.
Nothing wrong with "closet rod" type of staff (my tent partner carries a variation
of it). Like with so many other items on this list...listen, learn, try if you
wish, and do what YOU think is correct. There is much room for variation of
equipment with great success. Don't second guess yourself. That can be a big
burden on the trail. What you did was right for you.
