RE: [Philmont]: Coffee Questions

Regarding coffee preparation (and other food preparation) at Philmont, keep
in mind the high altitudes at Philmont.

These range from 6500 to 12441 feet.

As altitude increases the boiling point temperature of water decreases with
the decreasing air pressure and cooking times will have to be adjusted.

For more information see http://www.boldtech.com/Troop385/philmnt2.htm and

A good general source of information on high altitude cooking is
http://homecooking.about.com/od/altitude/

Over the years there has been tremendous change in the coffee industry, with
many more choices of flavors and blends. I'll bet there are a lot of
options for coffee that will fit perfectly with a Philmont expedition.
