If you choose midweek dates- Do you have a problem getting Adults to attend
and get time off from work??? My concern was getting eneough Leaders to
attend with the crews and being able to get the time off.
Thanks for the replies.

First of all, your chances of getting a Monday arrival day are 1 out of 7.
If you only specify Monday arrival dates in the computer generated
lottery, your chances of being selected are very, very small. By the way,
this week is the final week to register in the lottery for 2007.

The arrival date is the day you arrive at Philmont. The earlier in the
day the better. The first night is spent at Camping Headquarters (CHQ).
The trek begins the next day and you'll have ten nights in the backcountry
and then one night back at CHQ camp before departing. That yields 12
nights at Philmont, including 2 nights (first & last) at CHQ. For an
extra per person fee, you can usually arrange to arrive a day early or
depart a day later.

If you arrive on a Monday, here is what your visit will look like.

Day 1 - Monday - Arrive. Typically, the train arrives in Raton in the
afternoon so you won't be able to accomplish very many of the CHQ check-in
tasks that day.

Day 2 - Tuesday - Rush to finish up CHQ check-in tasks and catch an
afternoon bus to the backcountry.

Day 3 - Wednesday - In Backcountry

Day 4 - Thursday - In Backcountry

Day 5 - Friday - In Backcountry

Day 6 - Saturday - In Backcountry

Day 7 - Sunday - In Backcountry

Day 8 - Monday - In Backcountry

Day 9 - Tuesday - In Backcountry

Day 10 - Wednesday - In Backcountry

Day 11 - Thursday - In Backcountry

Day 12 - Friday - Come in off the trail. Hopefully, in the morning.
Final campfire program that night.

Day 13 - Saturday - Depart Philmont
