We flatlanders (Ft. Worth, TX) have found a tremendous advantage to arriving
early. We arrive late on day -1. We tour Philmont and cook steaks day 0. We
arrive at Philmont, day 1 at about 7:30 am. We have stayed in a couple of
different locations around Philmont. The acclimation to the altitude seems to
really pay off.
