Having gone down the TOT EVERY trek, I can personally state that the "new"
main trail is a real disappointment. Way too flat (for that late in the trek)
and way too long. I believe it was really built for people going UP, not down.
I did the "old" trail. Bad, but no worse than other trails on the Ranch. I
know it's the last day. I know how to savor a trek. We walked past the
Pasture Trail sign this summer. Wish now we had taken it. I will recommend it to
our future groups without reservation, based on what I have read here.
BTW...our first trek went from Urraca Mesa to Base on the last day. Only
reasonable route (yeah right!!!) was up the Stockade trail. We went on hands and
knees much of the climb. Sometimes had to remove our packs to get through.
Bad idea!!! Did it anyway because we didn't know any better. Do now!!!
My advice is always worth what you paid!!!
