I believe it is a B24 Liberator (don't quote me). I never got to go see it,
but I always wanted to. The story is that it was a part of a Confederate Air
show flying to a show to go on display. I think it was either the 80's or
90's. Anyway, since they were going to the air show, they had baseball caps
as memorabilia to sell once they got there. It crashed up on the ridge. Not
sure if it was weather, mechanical dificulty or what. From those I know who
have gone to see it, it's kinda spooky. You can still find baseball caps up
there and pieces of the plane that haven't deteriorated yet (like the seats)
as opposed to the one on trail peak.
I was told that not long ago, family members were escorted up there to pay
their respects. All on board were killed.
