On July 3, 1992, former Philmont Ranger Scott A. Begin wrote in SCOUTS-L:
"In 1988, there were two plane crashes: an A26-C slammed into the ridge
above french henry (I was nabbed for the search team for that one), and the
location, although not on Philmont property, is marked on the new 1:24000
scale Philmont maps. Both persons on board were killed."

An expedition trip report found at
http://bellsouthpwp.net/r/p/rpettys/day7.html discusses it and has a copy
of the NTSB report.
