At the 89 Jambo, I was offered $275 for my gold-rimmed 50th Anniversary
Arrowhead, right off my shirt. My counteroffer was $1200, resulting in
much expostulation while I sat there grinning, with (finally) a question
"Why so much???" "Because", I replied, "that's what it will cost to go
EARN another one".
He gaped like a fish, shut up, and walked away. Judging from the look
on his face, I think he "got it". I doubt if it stuck, though.
In actuality, I wouldn't have sold it to him for any price.
My will has a small section detailing that all of my Arrowheads are to
be returned to Philmont, with a request that those not wanted for
historical purposes (presumably the the 50th and the Y2K) be destroyed
at an opening or closing campfire.
"FWIW".
