[Philmont]: Replacement Arrowheads

I believe - but am not at all sure - that a replacement Arrowhead can be
requested from Philmont. The few times I have heard about this, the
sources indicated it was not easy and you got grilled pretty good. The
intent was to replace Arrowheads lost to house fires, floods, that sort
of thing.

With (standard) Arrowheads going for $15 - $20 on ebay, I would guess
that most people who need one just buy it versus jumping through a bunch
of flaming hoops with the Ranch Administration. But if you'd prefer to
get another original from Philmont, obviously the place to start is with
a phone call.

One odd thing is that Philmont gives you Arrowheads based on your
expected (paid) attendance, not actual attendance. I have three times
returned an Arrowhead for Scouts who missed their treks due to last
minute injuries or similar (badly broken arms, etc.). In other words,
we registered 11, but they still gave us 12 in our envelope. This
carelessness is certainly a glaring contrast to the alleged difficulty
in getting a replacement.
