The staff patches are much more of a collector's item than the participant
patches - each year, nearly 20,000 participant patches are awarded, as
opposed to 900-1000 staff patches. The 50th Anniversary (1988) and red P2K
patches (2000) are especially hot items among collectors. In 2000, I was a
Ranger Trainer and one of my Rangers lost their patch (or it was stolen)
during the first couple of weeks of the summer. Unfortunately, there was
nothing I could do to get him another one. I've got 10 arrowheads all
together, and I keep them in a very secure place. I know fellow staff
members that I worked with who have sold their patches and I think it is
totally wrong, but what can you do?
