RE: [Philmont]: What makes a good crew?

I would add that bringing forth information about respiratory challenges is of the highest importance when looking at maladies which might affect the crew. "A little bit of bronchitis" can easily manifest itself as full-blown asthma on the trail. If the Advisors know about it well in advance, most times it can be managed. I'm not sure why, but this one turns out to be the biggest surprise so many times. The lungs just work differently at 500 feet vs. 7500 feet and everyone has to be aware that an occasional problem can suddenly rear its ugly head in the form of limited pulmonary capacity very quickly.

I'm a little sensitive to this particular thing because, while I have asthma and take outstanding preventives (and have zero problem to date at Philmont), those that have "just a touch" rarely look at preventives, choosing to go there with an emergency inhaler.

Regarding the other acronyms (not sure what the E.D. one stands for and am afraid to ask), most of the troop scouters that camp are probably already aware of the behavioral maladies. I have to concern myself with Crew and Advisors and their physical state (weight, BP, and asthma) more than anything else.
