All those who have had disappointing results from the lottery who also find that HH, NT or Seabase do not fit in with their plans should check out the BSA publication "Passport to High Adventure" for treks sponsored by local councils. I use it for East Coast camps where I can take the whole troop (with the younger scouts staying at base for a traditional Scout camp experience), but there is no reason not to explore the programs provided by Western councils in Wyoming, Colorado, Washington, etc. or Maine High Adventure, when you have Scouts willing to pay for transportation in addition to trek cost to have the experience of a lifetime.
