IMHO Bob you need to be looking for $300 or so per partcipant now, to firm
up their commitment and to keep your cash flow positive throughout the
process ... Sure, You've got time, but you also need to know that you have a
crew that is committed for the long haul .. Summer 2007 is a long ways out,
things change, you don't want to be left holding the bag.
My advice, based on my experience, is to set what you think the whole trip
will cost now ... probably $1000-$1300 from your location depending on how
you choose to travel and how many pre trek activities you plan on. Divide
it into quarterly payments starting now, and keep the cash flow positive.
You've got ranch payments and travel deposits in your not too distant
future.
For those that are interested, I'd be happy to supply our budget from 2004
including the payment schedule ... just let me know.
Happy trails, Happy Holidays, See ya on the trail ...

Subject: [Philmont]: Amount of first payment
Does anyone know if the first payment that's due on January 31st is still
$50? We were awarded a trek for 2007 and I'd like to be able to tell people
what that amount will be.
Thanks,
