[Philmont]: 2005 Treks Comparison

A belated Christmas gift to 2006 trekkers gearing up for March's arrival of the 2006 Itinerary Guide - my chart providing a comprehensive comparison of the 2005 itineraries is done and has been posted on Selden's pages.

(make sure you get the entire URL and that it did not wrap to a second line on you)

It also is up on Julian Love's Troop 116 pages already, and should be on Earl Owens' Troop 764 pages, Jim Thompson's Troop 6 pages, my own Troop 236's pages, and Patriots' Path Watchu Experience pages in the near future.

For those not familiar with it, a wealth of data on each of the 35 routes is summarized on five 11x17 sheets - day by day camps with elevation, programs, and hiking mileage (corrected or adjusted to account for inconsistencies in TREKS).

Also included are regions of the ranch covered, food pickups, peaks that can be climbed, and a summary of nights at trail camps, dry camps, nights in the Valle, layovers, as well as the number of camps with showers, dinners, and campfires.

And new this year, for what it is worth, my personal assessment of the rating of each trek (based on my re-assessment of the total miles of the trek, the length of the last day's hike, and amount of time spent in the Valle).

In short, virtually anything a crew might want to know when reviewing last year's routes and comparing one to another.

A lot of data there - if you find an error, please let me know.
