I think a sleeping bag liner is essential for extending the life of the bag. Then you wash the liner after every trip, and the bag much less often than if the liner were not employed. I use a CoolMax liner from Cocoon that I got at Campmor. Some like the silk, when listed as a "super deal". Steer clear of the cotton. I have no info on the plain nylon. Doesn't sound comfy to me.
I'm not exactly helping with the laundering and fluffing question. Just a hint that may permit you to do it less often.
