One thing I've always wondered about as far as the camps go is
how/when they came into existence and how they got their
names. The names of some are self-explaining but others (Four
Mile, Metcalf Canyon, and Wilson Mesa, etc among the inactive camps,
for example) leave you wondering. Same for some of the active
and trail camps (Clarks Fork, Harlan, Ponil, Cook, Crags, etc).
It might turn out that you will learn answers to these questions as
older Philmont veterans get in touch with you with their older maps
and memories.
Philsearch is looking great - a great job from great Scouters.
