[philmont] Tents

If you are going to spend that much money on a tent (i.e., Hubba or Fling),
you might as well spend a few dollars more and get one of the tents made by
Tarp Tents and save another pound or more. They weigh less than 3 lb,
including the poles. My son and I (both 6š 1˛ or more) stayed dry with
lots of headroom, despite daily rain, and occasional hail and snow last
summer at Philmont. You will need to have a 20 degree bag, or at least a
35šer with a liner to stay warm at higher altitudes (at least early in the
summer), because these tents are more open than others. However, you wonšt
have to worry about condensation with these single wall tents.
